Once again, we celebrate the birthday of one of our country’s great leaders, with the holiday on January 16. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. worked tirelessly in his short life for the equality of all people, and he endeavored to complete his mission nonviolently.
I believe if Dr. King were still with us, he’d encourage us all to have hope, to work for peace and to pray diligently for our new president and our American leaders in government. One of my favorite quotes by Dr. King, which seems appropriate this year, is, “An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.”
I hope you will join me in taking time for reflection on MLK Day. Reflect on the amazing life of this outstanding man who contributed so much to our country, then begin to apply some of his ideals for peace and love in our lives.
In Hot Springs, we celebrate MLK Day with a Prayer Breakfast sponsored by our local NAACP 8 a.m. Jan. 14 at the Hot Springs Convention Center. For more information, contact Elmer Beard at 501.624.6866. We’d love to have our out-of-town visitors join us at the breakfast.
We’d also like to invite you to stay with us at Lookout Point Inn. Our Inn celebrates the lives and dignity of all people and believes that whenever we work together in this great nation, we can achieve astounding successes. If you’d like to stay at our inn overlooking Lake Hamilton, please make reservations online or give us a call at 501.525.6155 and we’ll help you with travel plans.
