The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission was established March 11, 1915, to protect Arkansas’ natural resources and provide conservation of both game and fish in the state and will celebrate a special birthday soon. The Commission was influenced by President Theodore Roosevelt and his conservation efforts.
My precious grandson loves to hunt and fish with his dad and thanks to the Game and Fish Commission he has a wonderful place to learn to become a great hunter and fisherman. According to “A Century of Conservation” published for the anniversary, the Game and Fish Commission was established at a time when the conservation of the state’s natural resources was vital for the survival of our game and fish.
Thanks to the president and forward thinking people in Arkansas 100 years ago we have great and abundant natural resources because of the many years of developing and protecting our game and fish. Maybe this is one of the reasons Arkansas is known as the “Natural State.”
At the our Hot Springs B&B we are grateful to be situated on Lake Hamilton, one of three lakes in Hot Springs, where our guests can enjoy boating and fishing during their stay. We always have a canoe available to use on the lake plus boat tours during the summer months with Capt. Ray. Guests can also reserve a slip and bring their own boat to use on the lake.
Some of our guests enjoy fishing on the lake and especially appreciate time with a professional fishing guide. Two of the many services available in the Hot Springs area we recommend are Sam Richardson Guide Service and Action Fishing Trips.
Enjoying our abundant natural resources in Arkansas and in Hot Springs is something we don’t take for granted. The lakes and mountains are stunning year around. Lakes Hamilton and Catherine are scheduled to be refilled three feet March 6-14. So, we’re getting ready for spring and summer visitors who enjoy the natural beauty in our area.
We’d love to welcome you to our luxurious Arkansas bed and breakfast and enjoy all the amenities on Lake Hamilton. Each of our individually-themed rooms has a lovely view of the lake. Reservations fill quickly this time of year and we wouldn’t want you to miss time on the lake to swim, boat or fish. Make reservations online or give us a call at 501.525.6155 and we’ll help you plan a great Arkansas vacation.
Here’s a special thank you to all the many individuals who’ve helped conserve our Arkansas natural resources for 100 years. Thanks to those efforts my grandchildren’s children and grandchildren will also enjoy hunting and fishing with an abundance of Arkansas game and fish.
