Hot Springs Turns up the Green for St. Paddy’s Day

March 5th, 2013 by Kristie Rosset

If you love parades with leprechauns, quirky floats, marching bands and Irish Elvis impersonators, then you’ll absolutely love the First Ever Tenth Annual World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Come celebrate the Irish!

Come celebrate the Irish!

Just the name makes me laugh and that’s exactly how much fun you can count on at the event. After participating in the 2012 festivities, I wouldn’t miss this year’s celebration for anything. And, I hope you won’t either.

The grand marshals for the parade are Bo Derek from the movie “10” and John Corbett, the TV star from “Northern Exposure.” Previously, Bo and John were each grand marshals in different years, now we’re excited to have this long-time couple share the duties!

The 98-foot-long parade (for real – it’s really only 98 feet) is held on Bridge Street with a green celebration and green libation and includes the kissing of the Blarney Stone.

I hope I have convinced you to come and enjoy the traditional Irish celebration on Bridge Street in Hot Springs on March 17 in a very non-traditional manner. You’ll have lots to tell your friends!

And, please while you’re in town – make your visit complete with a stay at Lookout Point Inn. Call 501-525-6155 for reservations or book online.

Hot Springs is becoming known as one of the great places to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! On March 17, the hilarious “First Ever 9th Annual World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade”

World's Shortest St. Patrick's Parade

is held on Bridge St., in the historic downtown. Really. This parade is only 98 feet long–the entire length of Bridge St.

Never a town that takes itself too seriously, this day is full of green celebration and green libation. Live, free concerts fill the air before and after the parade. You can also join in the kissing of the Blarney Stone.

This year’s grand marshal: Otter (Tim Matheson) from Animal House.

Come on and stay at our Hot Springs B&B—away from the crowds and noise, but close enough to the fun. We’ll provide tips on the best parking and viewing areas.
