MOCA (Hot Springs) Exhibits Arkansas Champion Trees

August 11th, 2013 by Kristie Rosset

One of my favorite nature drawings includes the beauty and grandeur of trees. Trees were a part of the longing to move to Arkansas, and I love the magnificence of Arkansas trees. So, I was thrilled to hear of the extraordinary exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art titled “Arkansas Champion Trees: An Artist’s Journey” in downtown Hot Springs by local artist Linda Williams Palmer.

The exhibit consists of 18 colored pencil drawings, detail drawings, photo-documentation of trees, short anecdotes and stories, informative text panels and a brochure on Arkansas forests, history, art and science. The artist’s medium is Prismacolor Pencils on textured papers and extends through August 24.

Barbara Satterfield, Exhibit Project Manager and member of the Arkansas Committee of the National Museum of Women in the Arts, said, “The exhibit gives us all an opportunity to celebrate Arkansas’ greatest natural resources – its land and its people.”

If you’re looking for a late summer Arkansas getaway, the “Arkansas Trees” exhibit could be one of many reasons to visit Hot Springs. And, we’d love to have you stay at our Hot Springs bed and breakfast while you’re here. Call 501.525.6155 for reservations. We’d love to help you plan your trip.
