Magic “Screams” from Hot Springs AR

October 9th, 2013 by Kristie Rosset

Magic Screams Hot Springs ARDuring the month of October, the Magic Springs theme park takes a spooky turn with its annual tribute to Halloween—“Magic Screams.” Each year, the theme park provides haunted activities for families and those visiting Hot Springs. Attractions at “Magic Screams” include costume contests, haunted houses, and pumpkin painting.

This year, you can enjoy two new shows: “Ghoul & The Gang,” a teen-oriented show with pop music, and “Reunion of Souls: Rock the Dead,” which features hard rock music and dancing ghouls. You could also dance the night away on Saturdays with “The Ghoul Zone,” hosted by a DJ.

For children, “Magic Screams” will keep the kids’ rides open, as well as having a pirate-themed haunted house and a trick or treat area. It’s a family delight that you won’t want to miss!

Magic Screams” will take place during three weekends in October—the 12th & 13th, the 19th and 20th, and the 26th and 27th. The park will be open from 4pm to 11pm on Saturdays and 4pm to 9pm on Sundays.

Add a relaxing stay at our Arkansas bed and breakfast to your ghoulish getaway. You can watch haunted films on your flat-screen television while enjoying the luxurious bed and linens, just to keep the Halloween spirit. Reserve your room online or call 501.525.6155501.525.6155 for more information.

Musical Summer Ahead for Hot Springs AR

June 22nd, 2013 by Kristie Rosset

Although the Hot Springs Music Festival is over, the Spa City still has plenty of options for summer music enjoyment.

One week from today, Music in the Park will be taking place at Lake Catherine. The event features Fer Goodness Sake, a group that sings mostly blue grass, country, and folk tunes. If the variety of music doesn’t hit the spot, the free Dutch oven cobbler definitely will!

lake catherine state parkBefore the event, you can always walk the beautiful hiking trails located at Lake Catherine. You can sit by the waterfall while you wait to dive into that cobbler and some Southern music.  Lookout Point can give you maps to all the best spots.

Just before Independence Day, on July 3rd, Lee Greenwood will be playing for the Spa Blast crowd at Oaklawn Racing Track. The event begins at 5:30, and it ends with fireworks. With an inflatable kid’s zone, “family-priced” concessions, and free entry, Oaklawn definitely has a good time in store for you.

As a little treat, Greenwood is recording the event for a live album. He is letting fans request songs via social media or email. You can read more information about that here, if you’d like to contribute.

On July 6th, we’ll have even more good Southern music playing at Magic Springs. Lynyrd Skynyrd will start at 8 o’clock at the Timberwood Ampitheater. Skynyrd plays the rock side of Southern music, with hits like “Free Bird” and “Sweet Home Alabama” making them unforgettable to multiple generations. You can sit on the lawn and have a good time with the band and the rest of the crowd!

When you’re thinking of enjoying music during your Arkansas vacation this summer, consider adding a stay at Lookout Point to your fun time. Give us a call at 501.525.6155 to reserve your room today!

From 90s favorites to 80s legends, Christian and country artists, some rock and alternative groups, and even a pop act, there is a little something for everyone in this year’s line-up. The series begins just before Memorial Day on May 25th with Collective Soul, and it continues all summer, giving you plenty of chances to catch some of these acts.

The concerts are held outside in the Timberwood Amphitheater. The events are family friendly, with people camped out on the lawn with blankets and chairs. The atmosphere is best soaked up with sunglasses, sunscreen, a big smile, and a glass of water. To make a day of it, visit the park prior to the event and ride some roller coasters or swim at Crystal Falls.

Crystal Bridges—Arkansas’ Fabulous New Museum

May 27th, 2012 by Kristie Rosset

Many vacationers from around the globe will visit the new world-acclaimed Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art

World class art found at Crystal Bridges, then come to Hot Springs for a stay at Lookout Point

Crystal Bridges Art Museum

in Bentonville, Arkansas, this summer. The highly-touted museum opened in November and has masterworks ranging from the Colonial period to current day and includes such well-known artists as Norman Rockwell, Andy Warhol and Georgia O’Keeffe and has received significant funding from the Walton Family Foundation.

For those planning to visit the museum, why not add a couple of days onto your trip and boogie on down to Hot Springs – only 200 miles from Bentonville? We’d love to have you stay at our luxury inn on Lake Hamilton and play in our town at the many fun, interesting places in the area.

One of my favorites is the Garvan Woodland Gardens, a spectacular outdoor botanical nature area featuring gorgeous flora and fauna, 4 ½ miles of wooded shoreline on Lake Hamilton and the beautiful floor-to-ceiling glass Anthony Chapel situated inside the gardens. There is nothing quite like it!

Of course, there are other fun things to do in Hot Springs as well, including:

  • Magic Springs theme park
  • Mid-America Science Museum
  • The National Park and Bath House Row
  • Water sports and fishing on the beautiful lakes
  • Excellent art galleries in the historic downtown
  • Fine Dining

Pairing a visit to the world-renowned Crystal Bridges Museum with a trip to Hot Springs and a stay at Lookout Point Inn would certainly seem like the perfect vacation.

Top 5 Ways to Stay Cool in Hot Springs

July 21st, 2011 by Kristie Rosset

With the “heat bubble” hovering over most of the U.S., Hot Springs is a pretty good place to have fun and stay cool. Here’s our top five suggestions:

1. Rent a boat, and head to Blakely Dam. The water temp drops to about 48 degrees, creating at least a 10 degree drop in air temperature. Really refreshing on hot summer days. Plus the water is so clear you can see the fish swimming. Try Marineland for boat rentals.

2. The Gangster Museum of America. Spend time indoors at this fun and quirky museum, exploring the unique, checkered history of Hot Springs.

3. Star gaze from the lakeside hammocks of Lookout Point. With a cool beverage and a breeze off the lake, you’ll definitely feel cooler.

4. Crystal Falls Water Park.

Water fun at Crystal Falls

With a lazy river, wave pool, and lots more water fun, Crystal Falls is a cool way to spend the day. Get discounted admission tickets from the inn, and there is no waiting in line for tickets, too.

5. Explore Mid-America Science Museum. More than 100 hands-on exhibits delight by kids and adults of all ages.

Keep Cool!
