Hot Trends in Small Weddings

January 8th, 2014 by Kristie Rosset

Since small weddings are her specialty, our wedding coordinator Tiffany has compiled a list of the hottest trends in small weddings for future brides.

As for the big picture, elopements are becoming more popular as couples look to save money and create a relationship-focused marriage. These intimate ceremonies have personal touches and a stress-free atmosphere, and the customization opportunities for the couple are endless. Our elopement packages offer a variety of personalized options for a “wedding for two.”

For details within a small wedding, a classic color scheme is still popular—neutrals with metallic punches. Using white or cream as a backdrop for a small wedding provides an elegant way to tie all the elements of the wedding together, from the dress to the tablecloths to the chairs. A few metallic elements add sparkle to an understated color scheme—a silver cake stand, glittering gems on the table, or rhinestone bouquet wrap.

The biggest bonus of a small wedding is the cherished atmosphere. One way that couples are capitalizing on this is by taking a personal photo with each guest at their wedding. Besides the great social media moments that you can get from such a display, the guests at the wedding will feel that much more beloved and included in your special day.

Following the wedding, the reception is becoming more casual and experimental with a focus on appetizers. From mini-quiche to Caprese salad skewers to potato nachos and beyond, appetizers are great for variety. Delicious small bites are a thoughtful way to feed guests at afternoon receptions, especially if you’re heading to a restaurant afterward for dinner.

Honor Your Pastor During Clergy Appreciation Month

October 10th, 2013 by Kristie Rosset

I never lose my sense of wonder when as an ordained clergy I am honored to baptize a precious baby or officiate at a wedding at our Hot Springs bed & breakfast.

Blessing the Rings

Blessing the Rings

It makes me pause in my busy schedule to be grateful for all the clergy who have had a very special impact on my life and on the lives of so many others.

October is designated as Clergy Appreciation Month and October 13 is Clergy Appreciation Day. To celebrate and say thank you we extend a discount to ordained clergy for weekday stays at our Arkansas Bed & Breakfast. With quiet rooms, a meditation labyrinth, and a swing by the lake this may be place for your much-needed respite!

Clergy Appreciation Month is also a special time that congregations set aside each year to honor their pastors and pastoral families for the hard work, sacrificial dedication and multiple blessings provided by these extraordinary people. A great way for churches to show their appreciation for their pastors is to purchase a gift certificate for an Arkansas getaway at the Inn so they can have time to rest and relax. The rooms are exquisite, the beds luxurious and the breakfasts scrumptious. And the Hot Springs Autumn foliage is exceptional.

Give us a call at 501.525.6155 and we’ll help you create a personalized gift certificate to the Inn for the special clergy in your church. October is such a beautiful month to honor the wonderful pastors in our lives.

Celebrating Love at Lookout Point: Not Long Enough!

June 15th, 2012 by Kristie Rosset

Yesterday, Ray & I celebrated our 37th wedding anniversary, and I am so grateful to this patient and good man for his kind and generous  spirit. Part of our anniversary traditions include expressing gratitude for our lives shared, and enjoying a nice bottle of red.

For years I’ve been interested to hear long-time married people tell the stories of creating a successful marriage. And now we are one of those “long-time” couples! I really don’t understand how it happened so quickly!

When my parents celebrated their 50th anniversary, I asked them the secret to their successful marriage. My mother said the typical answers: don’t go to bed mad, love each other, etc. My father bluntly replied: Do what SHE says! Of course, he promptly received the reaction he desired.

A few days ago, Lucian and Wanda

Wanda & Lucian (back), Tammy & James (foreground)

celebrated their 45th anniversary at Lookout Point. One morning they dined outdoors by the waterfalls, and shared conversation with James and Tammy, who will be married this fall at the inn. Lucian offered a great piece of advice to the upcoming groom. Whenever Lucian is asked how long he’s been married, he responds by looking lovingly & directly into Wanda’s eyes, and says “Not long enough!”

What a beautiful reply! It’s true: Ray & I have not been married long enough. Here’s to many more great decades together. And to all of you celebrating a June anniversary: congratulations!—Kristie

Small Weddings Save Big Money & Reduce Stress

March 4th, 2012 by Kristie Rosset

Small, intimate weddings are growing in popularity for lots of really good reasons:

  • lots of money saved
  • reduces the stress of planning a major event
  • the bride and groom are surrounded by their very closest family and friends
  • time to focus on the marriage, instead of the wedding
  • a small destination wedding may become a fun family reunion!

On Leap Year Day, Jack & Michelle

Leap Year Wedding

exchanged vows in a lovely ceremony at the Anthony Chapel of the Garvan Gardens.  Immediate family from all over the U.S. gathered, enjoying time together.

Following the wedding, the wedding party returned to Lookout Point for photographs, the wedding reception, and wedding dinner (catered by Chef Eve). Jack’s twin sister Jill was also present—too funny (Jack & Jill)!

Michelle & Jack taught me something new: steam punk. What great guests!

Springtime is a beautiful time of year to be married in our gardens by the lake. Give us a call at 866.525.6155 to reserve your Hot Springs wedding!

Incorporating British traditions into the setting, the initial toast was for the Queen, followed by a toast to the couple–a first at Lookout Point!

Lake Hamilton Wedding, Hot Springs

May 22nd, 2010 by Ray Rosset

Beautiful couple

Last week, the rains stopped in time for a garden wedding along the shores of Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs. Surrounded by immediate family and friends, Terry & Cassie exchanged vows and rings.

This sweet, fun couple were perfectly relaxed and calm for the wedding. The high heels were kicked aside right after the ceremony, opting for barefoot comfort. Congratulations to Cassie & Terry!

Lookout Point photographer, Kelley, captured the love shared by this couple and their family.

Not looking!
