3 Best Barbecue Joints in Hot Springs

August 11th, 2015 by Ray Rosset

Don’t get me wrong, barbecue is great anytime of the year, but it seems to lend itself best to summer. There are quite a number of great barbecue joints – they seem better described as joints rather than restaurants – all over Arkansas and we have some of the very best right here in Hot Springs.

Three of my favorites are McClard’s, Smokin’ in Style and Stubby’s. It’s hard to pick a favorite, but if I must I’d lean toward Smokin’ in Style. One of my favorite menu items is a combination of delicious meats with a few side dishes. This is more than Ray and I can eat together, but it makes great leftovers for several days.
McClard’s is probably the most famous Hot Springs barbecue. The food is delicious and the portions are enormous. The décor looks the same as it did decades ago, which is fun and nostalgic. The line to get in tends to be long, especially on the weekends, but the food is certainly worth the wait. McClard’s delivered regularly to the White House during the Clinton years.
Stubby’s looks exactly the way I think a barbecue joint should look.

BBQ in Hot Springs

Tasty food!

There is a wall full of old car license plates and signs. Barbecue is ordered while standing in line and it is very tasty. I recently had the pulled pork sandwich with baked beans like my mom use to make, slaw and potato salad – all delicious.
I really enjoy all three Hot Springs barbecue joints and they are certainly part of my summer time food cravings. They are located in different parts of town, easily accessible and a treat for all barbecue lovers.
We’d love to help you decide which barbecue to try and give you directions to the restaurant. We also encourage any Hot Springs visitors to spend time with us at our award-winning bed and breakfast and we’ll treat you like royalty. Java Primo: fresh wraps

  • Java Primo–fresh coffee roasted in Arkansas, featuring brunch and lunch specialties. The fresh salads, wraps and paninis are exceptional. Top it off with a scrumptious homemade dessert.
  • J & S Italian Villa— great Italian fare presents a wonderful aroma as you enter the lovely restaurant. Simply delicious with superb service.
  • Rolando’s Nuevo Latino Restaurante–mouth-watering Latin American food mixed with southern hospitality. The murals are hand carved by Rolando! Yummy and charming.
  • Lookout Point Lakeside Inn–lunch available for our lodging guests with the absolute best scenery in Hot Springs. Delicious and simple fare of organic salads or freshly prepared sandwiches. Dine by the waterfall, or we’ll pack a picnic lunch in a custom backpack ready for you to enjoy anywhere.

Our Top Five Favorite Restaurants in Hot Springs

May 22nd, 2012 by Kristie Rosset

At Lookout Point,  we provide comprehensive pampering and concierge services. Which means that we make dining suggestions every day. Fortunately, Hot Springs enjoys a multitude of really good restaurants!

Here’s our FAVORITE FIVE and WHY we love them:

1. Luna Bella. Fabulous food, artfully and freshly prepared by a top-notch chef, in a lovely setting. Added bonus: very convenient and close to Lookout Point.  Type of food: Italian American Fusion. Try: pear endive salad or buttery scallops.

2. Bohemia. Described as continental cuisine, and located north of the historic downtown in a funky building. Chef/owner really cares about his food. Try: Petit Jean lamb (local).

3. Central Park Fusion. Located in the historic downtown, featuring world class dining. Type of food: fusion from around the globe. Try: one of their steaks. Note: nice decor but can get quite loud on busy nights.

4. Rolando’s. Downtown. Check out their outdoor dining option, tucked into the side of a mountain, with live music in the evenings. Type of food: nuevo Latino. Try: the cubano platter.

5. J & S Italian Villa. Great views of the lake from this friendly restaurant. Bonus: piano bar with live entertainment, plus it’s close to the inn. Type of food: Italian. Try: chicken verona.

Of course, we’ll be delighted to make reservations for you when you are enjoying a great stay at our Hot Springs B&B/ inn!

New Hot Springs Restaurant, Luna Bella, a HIT!

August 29th, 2010 by Ray Rosset

Our guests are raving about the new Luna Bella Restaurant, located only 1/2 mile from Lookout Point. The Italian American fusion cuisine puts a great twist on Italian fare.  Recently I enjoyed their special of the evening, a pan-seared tilapia.  It was cooked to perfection, and perfectly seasoned.

Luna Bella’s upscale decor allows for conversation in a setting reminiscent of Hollywood during the 1950’s. With enough well-placed lighting to actually read the menu, the atmosphere is great for a romantic occasion or a business dinner.

Hot Springs is graced with fine restaurants!  Here’s a few more of our favorites:  J&S Italian Villa, Central Park Fusion, Rolando’s, Via Roma, Jason’s Burgers & More, McClard’s Bar-b-que….and lots more.

We’re pleased to be your full concierge service when you stay at our B&B inn.
