Music Lovers Unite for the Hot Springs Music Festival

May 21st, 2014 by Kristie Rosset

Hot Springs Music Festival

For two glorious weeks June 1-14 our city exudes great music. This is the 19th year for the Hot Springs Music Festival and we at Lookout Point Inn are honored to be a sponsor once again for an event which is exhilarating and full of many musical concerts and open rehearsals.

This Festival pairs world-class mentor musicians from major orchestras, chamber ensembles and conservatory faculties with incredibly talented pre-professional apprentices. These two groups play the most incredible music “side by side” in orchestral, chamber, solo recital, vocal, and choral and chamber opera repertoire. It is a feast for music lovers from around the globe.

Last year more than 10,000 people attended the Festival events and an additional 6.4 million heard its concerts on nationwide radio broadcasts. It also appears on nine compact discs distributed worldwide on the Naxos/Marco Polo label.

The two weeks of music is serious in focus but performed in a casual atmosphere. It takes place in a variety of non-traditional venues in Hot Springs including historic buildings, art galleries, hotel ballrooms, churches and open-air spaces. Hot Springs is such a great place to host this unique event. In addition to the great music, Hot Springs offers Bathhouse Row with the hot mineral water baths, the National Park trails, the eclectic restaurants and cafes, Garvan Woodland Gardens, art galleries, and much more. For more information on the Music Festival go to www.hotsprings.org.

And, while you’re here enjoying the Festival, we’d love to have you stay with us at Lookout Point Inn and enjoy our relaxing respite from the day’s activities. Our 14 well-appointed luxurious rooms all have a beautiful view of Lake Hamilton. We have gorgeous gardens for our guests to enjoy with a hammock, swing, labyrinth, canoe and rides with Captain Ray on the Lake. Make reservations online or give us a call at 501.525.6155 and we’ll help you plan your Hot Springs music stay with us at the Inn.

Music Fills the Air in Hot Springs in June

May 16th, 2013 by Kristie Rosset

HSMF logoBeginning June 2, we will all be able to listen to live classical music in historic downtown Hot Springs Arkansas. The Hot Springs Music Festival has concerts each night for two weeks with different programs and in different venues, including the Arlington Hotel, several churches, Historic Bathhouse Row and ending at Oaklawn VPA Magnet School on June 15. On June 8 the unique, outdoor Progressive Concert begins at 7:30 and the audience will move with the band down Bathhouse Row in the National Park.

This is the 18th season for the Festival, which is titled “Coming of Age” and celebrates the bicentennial of Giuseppe Verdi and Richard Wagner’s births and the centennial of Benjamin Brittan’s. Some of the song selections for the programs come directly from these three composers’ operatic repertoire, promising an entertaining festival from start to finish.

The concerts and venues are listed on the Festival website along with ticket information. This is such a wonderful event in Hot Springs, bringing in talented musicians and allowing the audiences to enjoy world-renowned music.

Lookout Point is proud to be a sponsor of the Festival. If you’re looking forward to this Festival as much as we are, we hope you’ll consider adding a stay at our luxury Hot Springs resort to your getaway. Call us at 501.525.6155 for more information.
