October 5th, 2014 by Kristie Rosset

The 2nd Annual Hot Springs International Horror Film Festival is taking place just in time to get you into the mood for a Fright-tastic Halloween. This year the festival takes place from Oct. 23-26 at the historic Central Theater downtown.

The HSHFF takes pride in honoring not just horror films, but also sci-fi and thriller films. This mix of fantasy and intrigue with slashers and thrillers gives each audience something new to treasure. The director, Bill Volland, has a background in art direction and set design, giving a unique perspective to the horror genre. The hostess this year is actress and filmmaker TamaHot Springs Horror Film Festivalra Glynn, known for her role in Halloween 5.

The special screenings taking place at the 2014 Hot Springs Horror Film Festival are “The Oscar Legacy,” “Jersey Shore Massacre,” “Tales of Poe,” and a teaser for “Blood Reservoir.” There will also be a film-marketing seminar hosted by Ted Hatfield, who is also achieving a Lifetime Achievement Award. The full schedule will be up on the website soon, where you can also purchase tickets.

In preparation for the film festival, the Hot Springs Arts and Film Institute will also be hosting the Theater of Horror at the Central Theater. It promises to be a combination of entertainment—from movie to theater to haunted attraction. The showings will happen each Thursday through Sunday, from Oct. 16 to Nov. 2. More information about that attraction is available on the website as well, and all proceeds support the film festival.

While you are in town enjoying the thrills of the films, add a stay at our Hot Springs bed and breakfast to your agenda. You can extend the movie fun during your stay, with a library of DVDs for you to choose from and complimentary popcorn (and snacks!) available 24 hours a day.
