A Little History Lesson on Our Beautiful Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs, Arkansas

July 28th, 2011 by Kristie Rosset

Of course everyone knows of Hot Springs, Arkansas as the “The Spa City”. Hot Springs is ripe with day spas and massage parlors. Bathhouse row, located in the historic district downtown, is one of the town’s biggest draws with the historical significance in and of itself. But what about the lakes? Here in Hot Springs, we know how to spend the summer!

First, a little history lesson…

Hot Springs is home to one of Arkansas’s aptly named “Diamond Lakes”.

And oh how they sparkle! Look!

In addition to being truly beautiful, the diamond lakes are also useful! Who knew?! Lake Hamilton, for example, was created by Arkansas Power & Light in 1932 with the vision of harnessing the natural power of running water to generate hydro-electricity. This would ensure the town could continue to support growth. With the installment of Carpenter dam a success, Lake Hamilton was born!
Lake Hamilton is over 7,000 acres of fun and not to mention some of the best fishing in the state. Residents and tourist alike get out on the water to cool off during the summer. At any given time, one would see jet skis, inner tubes, pontoon boats and skiers taking advantage of the spacious lake. Off of the main channel, you can find residents floating along in their canoes, paddle boats, and even simple inflatable rafts. Much of the lake is lined with condos, houses, and restaurants.
Visit Hot Springs!  Relax! Experience the beauty of Lake Hamilton for yourself!

Willie Nelson Coming to Hot Springs, Feb 21

January 20th, 2010 by Kristie Rosset

American icon Willie Nelson will perform live at the Summit Arena in Hot Springs on Feb. 21, 2010.  The arena is a smaller, more intimate venue to see and enjoy this concert.  Of course, you’re invited to stay at Lookout Point while in Hot Springs for the concert!

“Nelson is widely recognized as an American icon. His distinctive music and other social and political activities sometimes take a backseat to his pop-culture public image, marked by his red hair, often divided into two long braids partially concealed under a bandana. He has been active in social and political causes ranging from tax protests to support for a Democratic effort in the mid-2000s to bust up a Republican gerrymandering attempt in Texas.”  HotSprings.org.

Currently Willie Nelson is performing in Austin to raise funds for Haiti earthquake relief.

Lookout Point on the Wheel of Fortune, TOMORROW, Sept. 30, 2009

September 29th, 2009 by Kristie Rosset

You are invited to watch Wheel of Fortune tomorrow, September 30, to see a prize on the wheel from Lookout Point Lakeside Inn!  It will be exciting to hear Pat Sajak and Vanna White talk about the inn.  Certainly we hope a contestant wins the week long stay packed with great Hot Springs activities.  We hope you’ll watch Wheel of Fortune tomorrow, and provide some feedback on this blog or Facebook.

Frequently we hear,  “Wow!  How did you get on Wheel of Fortune?”  Bedandbreakfast.com is the exclusive contact for bed & breakfast prizes on the Wheel.  In April, we were contacted by Bedandbreakfast.com, asking if we were interested in providing a package for “Rooms With A View” week.  With an enthusiastic yes, we provided the details of a weeklong package, B-roll (video used for television), plus photos and descriptions of the inn.  During the summer, we learned that Lookout Point was selected.  The show was taped on August 6, and now the time is here.  Thanks for watching!
