Hot Springs Glows with Holiday Lights

November 1st, 2012 by Kristie Rosset

One of the most dazzling exhibitions in Hot Springs each year is “Lights on the Landscape” at Garvan Woodland Gardens. From Nov. 17-Dec. 31, 5-9 p.m. the Gardens twinkle with more than 1.8 million brilliant bulbs. This display of lights is one of the most anticipated events in Arkansas and is filled with expectation and excitement for the holiday season. As an added treat, the Gardens also allow dogs to come along for the outing.

If you’ve never visited the Gardens, this would be the perfect opportunity to plan a trip to the holiday display and to stay with us at the inn. Or, if you return year after year to enjoy the sights, please consider making us your holiday headquarters during your trip.

As an added bonus, Lookout Point is offering very special low rates ($99/night) in our Queen Standard rooms for the first 3 weeks of December, on weeknights Sunday-Thursday. Just give us a call to make your reservation at 501.525.6155.

Thanks to some great guest photos, enjoy these photos from last year’s Lights on the Landscape.

Fabulous Fall Escape to Hot Springs

September 6th, 2012 by Kristie Rosset

One of my favorite times of year is quickly approaching. Cooler days and the beauty of the fall season bring such a refreshing change of pace. The break from the heat itself increases my energy level and makes me want to be outside enjoying the splendor that autumn brings.

Lookout Point Lakeside Inn

Autumn in Hot Springs

To honor the season we’ve prepared a “Leaves, Lakes and Waterfalls Package”, to encourage you to take a break and come spend a few days with at Lookout Point. Enjoy the colorful foliage in the Ouachita Mountains and the serenity on Lake Hamilton. The ducks, geese and birds are plentiful during the season and fascinating to watch in the early morning or late afternoon as they prepare for their migration.

With the cooler breezes and the gorgeous leaves comes a sense of relaxation and slowing of pace to let your spirits soar and your mind slow down. The great hiking trails leading to some awe-inspiring waterfalls are picturesque during this time of year.

Our “Leaves, Lakes and Waterfalls” package includes (avail Oct 1-Nov 30):

  • 3 nights at Lookout Point Lakeside Inn, recently named one of the top 10 B&B/Inns in the U.S. by Trip Advisor for 2012
  • Spectacular lake view from every room
  • Map to the best hikes, with waterfalls as the destination
  • Souvenir Picnic Backpack loaded with hearty lunch, wine, plates, and more
  • Admission for 2, Garvan Woodland Gardens
  • 90-minute boat tour of Lake Hamilton with Lookout Point’s “Capt. Ray” (thru Nov 2)
  • Admission for 2, 21-story Mountain Tower
  • Private couples’ thermal mineral bath at the Quapaw Bathouse & Spa

Because this is such a popular time at the inn, make your reservations early @ 501.525.6155 and spend time looking forward to your fabulous fall escape.

Crystal Bridges—Arkansas’ Fabulous New Museum

May 27th, 2012 by Kristie Rosset

Many vacationers from around the globe will visit the new world-acclaimed Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art

World class art found at Crystal Bridges, then come to Hot Springs for a stay at Lookout Point

Crystal Bridges Art Museum

in Bentonville, Arkansas, this summer. The highly-touted museum opened in November and has masterworks ranging from the Colonial period to current day and includes such well-known artists as Norman Rockwell, Andy Warhol and Georgia O’Keeffe and has received significant funding from the Walton Family Foundation.

For those planning to visit the museum, why not add a couple of days onto your trip and boogie on down to Hot Springs – only 200 miles from Bentonville? We’d love to have you stay at our luxury inn on Lake Hamilton and play in our town at the many fun, interesting places in the area.

One of my favorites is the Garvan Woodland Gardens, a spectacular outdoor botanical nature area featuring gorgeous flora and fauna, 4 ½ miles of wooded shoreline on Lake Hamilton and the beautiful floor-to-ceiling glass Anthony Chapel situated inside the gardens. There is nothing quite like it!

Of course, there are other fun things to do in Hot Springs as well, including:

  • Magic Springs theme park
  • Mid-America Science Museum
  • The National Park and Bath House Row
  • Water sports and fishing on the beautiful lakes
  • Excellent art galleries in the historic downtown
  • Fine Dining

Pairing a visit to the world-renowned Crystal Bridges Museum with a trip to Hot Springs and a stay at Lookout Point Inn would certainly seem like the perfect vacation.

Tulips Blooming at Garvan Gardens, Hot Springs

March 6th, 2012 by Kristie Rosset

Yesterday Ray & I went to the Garvan Gardens,

Lookout Point Inn sends guests to Garvan Gardens

Awesome Beauty

expecting to see the last of the daffodils. Instead, we were treated to a feast for the eyes: seas of tulips in early bloom. The sight is breathtakingly beautiful.

The riotous colors tickle the senses, and invite us to stop, pause, and just take in the wonder.

As an added bonus, the handsome peacocks were strutting their colors at the entrance to the gardens. Doesn’t get much better than this on a lovely spring day!

If you can getaway on March 7 or 8 to see the tulips, Lookout Point has a special offer. We also have a very few rooms remaining available for Friday, March 9 (one night stay).

We’ve certainly had some chilly temperatures the last few weeks in Hot Springs. It’s been nice to cuddle up beside the fireplace– just ask our recent guests! But now that Phil has decided that Spring is closer than we knew, it is time to start thinking about Springtime. The gardens at Lookout Point will be in bloom before you know it, with splashes of vivid colors all around. We can’t wait for all those early Spring bulbs! It’s just so exciting.
