Check Out the Hot Springs AR Art Scene

July 22nd, 2016 by Kristie Rosset

Art abounds in Hot Springs from so many different venues. The atmosphere in Hot Springs is conducive to inspiring quite a few local artists. The medium varies but the art and galleries are quite impressive.

Favorite Local Artists:

Family enjoying art from a Hot Springs, AR art galleryOne of our favorite local artists, Robin Young, is not hard to find. Robin is one of our fabulous innkeepers at Lookout Point and her art is displayed prominently down the hallway on the first floor. How inspiring for all of us at the Inn to work with Robin and be able to enjoy her artwork every day. She has watercolors of animals, children, nature and local well know Hot Springs subjects, all of which are for sale. Robin owned an art gallery outside of Washington D.C. and has a bachelor of fine arts degree.

Another of my favorite local artists is Alison Parsons. Alison uses whimsy in her animated paintings saturated with bold color. We have a few of her pieces at our Hot Springs inn and she owns Alison Parsons Gallery in Historic Downtown Hot Springs. Her paintings can be found throughout the world and her creativity is certainly a treasure for Hot Springs.

Richard Stephens is another of my favorite local artists. His work is featured in several of the galleries downtown. We have a couple of his pieces in the Inn and get lots of ooohs and aaahs over them. According to his website, “Although recognized for his landscape, architectural and figurative work Stephens feels the real subjects of most of his paintings are his brushwork and the light he tries to capture and amplify through value contrast and an unexpected color palette.

For the size of Hot Springs, we are blessed with quite a few local art galleries. Most of the galleries are situated in the same area of Hot Springs and are fun to browse from gallery to gallery and enjoy some time taking in some of the local artistic talent.

On the first Friday of each month the galleries offer Gallery Walk. The art galleries stay open in the evening from 5-9 p.m. and serve wine, tea, lemonade and appetizers. Gallery Walk brings in visitors to our area and is an enjoyable way to spend a Friday evening.

We’d love to have you stay with us at the Inn and to help you organize a Hot Springs art getaway. Guests can start at the Inn by talking with Robin about her work and about art and artists in the area. Make reservations online or give us a call at 501.525.6155 and we’ll help you make plans for a fabulous weekend exploring the Hot Springs AR Art Scene.

Gallery Walk, March 5, Hot Springs

February 28th, 2010 by Ray Rosset

Gallery Walk, held the first Friday of every month, welcomes visitors and local folks to the amazing art galleries in downtown Hot Springs.  This Friday, March 5, from 5-9pm, the art galleries will be open.  Stroll the downtown, sip a glass of wine, nibble on refreshments provided by the galleries, and visit with the artists.

One of our favorite local artists is Richard Stephens, a nationally recognized and award-winning watercolorist.  He recently visited Lookout Point gardens, and captured the peaceful feel of our gardens and Lake Hamilton.  When you stay at Lookout Point, you’ll see several pieces of his original art.   Some of our favorite galleries include Blue Moon, Alison Parsons, Justus Fine Art, Gallery Central, and the Fine Arts Center.

Hot Springs, Arkansas was named the 4th best arts community in the United States (right behind Santa Fe).   Who knew?  Come on to Hot Springs for a lovely, almost springtime evening at Gallery Walk.
