Fall Colors To Peak Soon in Hot Springs

November 3rd, 2009 by kristierosset

A hike in the woods and in town revealed that the leaves have not reached peak colors yet.  Many trees still are hanging onto green leaves, others are showing off yellows, reds, and oranges.  Ray and IHot Springs Creek, fall 09 hike the waterfalls trail at Lake Catherine State Park.  With all the previous rain, the waterfalls are running fast and strong.  Gorgeous!  We also walked the new Hollywood Park in town, following the Hot Springs creek.  It’s a beautiful multi-purpose path for bicyclists and walkers/runners.  Ray and dog Nikki

November is one of our favorite months in Arkansas!

Lots of great outdoors activities, and beautiful colors.  We’d love to welcome you at Lookout Point Lakeside Inn, and direct you to the best hiking trails!

Mud flies at Hot Springs Jeep Jamboree

October 25th, 2009 by kristierosset

20th annual Ouachita Jeep Jamboree

20th annual Ouachita Jeep Jamboree

Guests Shelle & Alberto traveled from Dallas to participate in the challenging Jeep Jamboree held outside of Hot Springs.  With rocky vertical challenges, mud pits, water crossings, and various competitions, the Jamboree brought participants from around the U.S.    At times, Shelle and Alberto found the rock challenges not only thrilling, but nail biting.  With a jeep covered in mud, they had a great time!  Thanks for staying at Lookout Point Lakeside Inn!  We’re guessing the whirlpool tub at the end of the day soothed a few sore muscles.

The inn is only 4 1/2 hours from Dallas, so the guests were able to depart for Dallas and make it home in time to attend the Dallas Cowboys game.  Sweet.

August Special at Lookout Point Lakeside Inn

August 13th, 2009 by kristierosset

It’s back to school season, and perhaps you’d like to sneak away for a couple of days before life gets too hectic.   We’re offering an August Special:  stay two nights anytime through the end of August.  You’ll receive one-half dozen chocolate covered strawberries in your room awaiting  your arrival, plus a chilled bottle of French Sparkling Wine (Risque by Toad Hollow) or a chilled bottle of sparkling juice.

As an added bonus, the gardens are still lush and green.   From our Texas friends and guests, especially around the Austin area, we hear how dry and brown the earth is from the continuing drought.   That certainly isn’t the situation here on Lake Hamilton!  We’d love to see you, and hope you can get away for an end of summer trip.

Be sure to ask for the August Special.

Events in Hot Springs

August 2nd, 2009 by kristierosset

August: the ending month for summer.  It’s almost time for school to start.  August is also another month filled with wonderful events in Hot Springs.

The Hot Springs Convention Center features a new photography selection, “Hot Springs: A Journey Through History.”  Photographs include Babe Ruth at the Hot Springs Country Club, drinking from a water pump, and riding a horse at the Oaklawn Jockey Club.  The collection also includes a photo of Cy Young, the legendary baseball pitcher, at a spring training for pitchers held in Whittington Park.
“Hot Springs: A Journey Through History” consists of photographs from the collection of the Garland County Historical Society that have been enlarged and framed for exhibition purposes.  This exhibit is open everyday.

Concerts this month at the Timberwood Amphitheater include: Christian Youth, Phil Vassar, Molly Hatchet & Blackfoot, and Three Dog Night.

The 26th Annual Mash Bash Blood Drive will take place August 7-8.  Several donation areas will be set up to accommodate any and everyone who stops by and is able to donate.  There will be hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill as well as T-Shirts, dog tags, and water canteens for everyone.  The local radio stations will be on site for this annual event.

“We all hear voices” the play will be showing at the Malco Theater the 14th-16th.  This show is a stage play adapted from the novel of the same name by Dr. Sam Taggart.  Brimming with Southern flavor and peppered wiht quirky characters with their own unique challenges, this play serves up a tale of unlikely friendship and the human desire for happiness.

Don’t forget about the monthly teas at Garvan Woodland Gardens on the 11th, and the Lookout Point tea on the 27th.

Lookout Point Lakeside inn is conveniently located in the Hot Springs area where you can stay and enjoy all the wonderful events of Hot Springs.  Please call Krisite to book a room and start enjoying Hot Springs.  Also call to reserve your spot at this month’s tea.

More Fishing at Lookout Point in Hot Springs!

July 26th, 2009 by kristierosset

Coffee in hand, two fishing rods, bucket of fresh worms, and a small pond filled with fish—what more could a fisherman want early in the morning?  Fishing at Lookout Pointprize catchRaymond caught at least a dozen bream (or blue gill, as I’ve been informed).    He was heading home to provide a fish cookout for friends this evening.  Thank you for thinning out the lake fish from our pond!  12 down, over 100 to go.

Our gardener, Pat, tells us that he’s actually seen a bass, at least 16 inches long, in the pond.  Who knew???

So, you’re welcome to bring your rod and reel, and fish the lazy way at Lookout Point.  Catch & release (into Lake Hamilton) OR take ‘em home.   When Ray & I created a luxury inn with lots of amenities, we did  not know just how many amenities Lookout Point Lakeside Inn would actually include!  Ha…
