Our delightful and beloved town, Hot Springs, Arkansas was named one of the TOP FIVE travel destinations in the United States in 2010 by Trip Advisor! According to Trip Advisor, the top consumer generated travel review site in the world, Hot Springs ranked #3 in their top travel destination for 2010, just behind Seward, Alaska and Hyannis, Massachusetts. Completing the list of the Top Five travel destinations are Chinle, Arizona and Waimea, Hawaii.
Although we’re obviously partial, we think Hot Springs is one of the most beautiful and friendly places on the earth. At the inn, waking up to the calming lake views and the low lying Ouachitas Mountains, hearing the birds sing, and smelling the freshly ground coffee brewing starts the day perfectly. Yes, we’re partial. And we are so grateful to live in this fantastic town! It’s a pleasure to see Trip Advisor recognize this jewel of a city.

It it such a great feeling to be a part of a couple’s special day, and this day was very special for Stephanie and Rodney Gibbs. According to the family of this recently married couple, their marriage has been a long time coming. The couple has been dating since they were fifteen years old, which is a trend in the family, because Stephanie’s brother and his wife also started dating when they were fifteen. An intimate ceremony took place on the peaceful labyrinth and the reception followed in the dining room. A beautiful bride and her handsome groom both gleamed with joy as members of the family came forward and toasted the newlyweds. It was a lovely wedding for this sweet couple and their loving family!
We wish you two the best of luck and a happy marriage filled with lots of love and gorgeous children. Also, best of luck with the twin girls on the way!

August: the ending month for summer. It’s almost time for school to start. August is also another month filled with wonderful events in Hot Springs.
The Hot Springs Convention Center features a new photography selection, “Hot Springs: A Journey Through History.” Photographs include Babe Ruth at the Hot Springs Country Club, drinking from a water pump, and riding a horse at the Oaklawn Jockey Club. The collection also includes a photo of Cy Young, the legendary baseball pitcher, at a spring training for pitchers held in Whittington Park.
“Hot Springs: A Journey Through History” consists of photographs from the collection of the Garland County Historical Society that have been enlarged and framed for exhibition purposes. This exhibit is open everyday.
Concerts this month at the Timberwood Amphitheater include: Christian Youth, Phil Vassar, Molly Hatchet & Blackfoot, and Three Dog Night.
The 26th Annual Mash Bash Blood Drive will take place August 7-8. Several donation areas will be set up to accommodate any and everyone who stops by and is able to donate. There will be hot dogs and hamburgers on the grill as well as T-Shirts, dog tags, and water canteens for everyone. The local radio stations will be on site for this annual event.
“We all hear voices” the play will be showing at the Malco Theater the 14th-16th. This show is a stage play adapted from the novel of the same name by Dr. Sam Taggart. Brimming with Southern flavor and peppered wiht quirky characters with their own unique challenges, this play serves up a tale of unlikely friendship and the human desire for happiness.

Coffee in hand, two fishing rods, bucket of fresh worms, and a small pond filled with fish—what more could a fisherman want early in the morning?
Raymond caught at least a dozen bream (or blue gill, as I’ve been informed). He was heading home to provide a fish cookout for friends this evening. Thank you for thinning out the lake fish from our pond! 12 down, over 100 to go.
Our gardener, Pat, tells us that he’s actually seen a bass, at least 16 inches long, in the pond. Who knew???
So, you’re welcome to bring your rod and reel, and fish the lazy way at Lookout Point. Catch & release (into Lake Hamilton) OR take ‘em home. When Ray & I created a luxury inn with lots of amenities, we did not know just how many amenities Lookout Point Lakeside Inn would actually include! Ha…

One of mother nature’s unexpected “gifts” is a water fountain “pond” filled with brim. I’m not a fisherperson, but it’s those lake fish with a blue spot on their sides. There’s probably 100 brim in the pond, plus the 30 goldfish. We are continually inviting guests to fish the brim, and release them the lake—-or take them home in their own cooler. I’m not cooking the fish!
Today our wonderful guest Raymond enjoyed some fishing in our pond, and caught 3 brim in a short amount of time. Yeah! The one goldfish snagged was happily released to swim with his friends.
If you want some easy fishing, come on to Lookout Point. Pull up a chair, sit in the shade, and fish away. Sip on a glass of wine or beer, and RELAX.
I haven’t figured out how to have a fishing tournament in our pond. Any ideas?
