10 Years of Gratitude in Hot Springs!

February 8th, 2013 by Kristie Rosset

We’ve reached our 10-year anniversary of the opening of the Inn in February 2003! For Ray and me, it’s been an incredible journey full of all kinds of emotion, but, mostly, pure joy.

We’ve had amazing guests from all walks of life both locally and from all over the world. We’ve had the privilege of sharing their lives for a few days and celebrating their journeys. We are filled with gratitude for our time together and our time at Lookout Point Inn.

During this year, occasionally we’d like to reminisce and share stories and our thoughts with you. To start with, here’s a photo of the property before Lookout Point was built!

Before Lookout Point Construction Began

We encourage you to comment on our blogs or Facebook to tell stories we may not know.

We started with a dream of the finest hospitality anyone could offer and we’ve turned that into a gift of compassion and shared lives – much more than we ever dreamed possible.

Many have come our way and we want to kick-off our year-long celebration with a thank you to all who’ve helped to make our Inn a tremendous success and who’ve made the world a little kinder for us all.

Free Night, Nov. 11, for Vets through B&B For Vets Campaign

September 23rd, 2012 by Kristie Rosset

Each year, Lookout Point gladly donates free nights to Veterans for the “B&B for Vets” Campaign,

Thank you, Veterans and Active Military!

through the Better Way to Stay program. Inns and B&Bs throughout North America will open their doors to active military and vets (plus one guest) on Sunday, November 11, 2012. It’s one way to say thank you for your service by offering a free room to those who’ve served, or are serving currently,  in our military.

Lookout Point is donating four room nights on November 11 this year to veterans. Last year, more than 900 B&B/Inns in North America donated rooms to veterans, and over the four year history of the B&B For Vets program, more than 50,000 room nights have been donated!

Not only will you receive a beautiful room with an awesome view, but we will also serve you a delicious breakfast in the morning. It’s time for you, our veterans, to be pampered!

Call us at 501.525.6155 to make your reservation. And watch the Better Way to Stay website for more B&B/Inns in Arkansas offering their rooms to donate. (Some are just now starting to add their free nights).

We humbly thank you, dear veterans!

Happy Birthday to Lookout Point Lakeside Inn!

February 14th, 2012 by Kristie Rosset

Happy 9th Birthday to Lookout Point! Today we celebrate nine years

Happy Birthday!

of opening our doors to the best guests in the entire world. On Valentine’s Day, 2003 we opened to a full house. While some guests were out to dinner, glass shower doors were being installed. With construction delays, the gardens and waterfalls were yet a vision in our minds at that time.

The first day of serving breakfast, Ray sliced his hand on a new knife –he was not used to handling sharp knives–and had to drive himself to the ER for stitches and then surgery.

We’ve learned so much in these 9 years, and the most important lesson is the comforting reassurance that we love, love, love being innkeepers and welcoming people to this oasis of peace & tranquility.

You’re invited to come stay at our Hot Springs B&B/Inn!

First Ever 8th Annual World’s Shortest St. Patricks Day Parade!

February 23rd, 2011 by Kristie Rosset

That’s right! The First Ever 8th Annual World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be held in Hot Springs, Arkansas on March 17th. But don’t think that something so short isn’t worth your time. The Leprechauns will not take that lightly! The event is recognized by the Southeast Tourism Society as one of the top 20 events in the Southeast. In addition the Smithsonian has named #1 in the way of the most unusual celebrations of the holiday. Irish Central named it “the wackiest”. Now you know you want to be a part of it! Have a stay at Lookout Point Lakeside Inn and be there for this year’s round of recognition.

The festivities will last well into the evening with live music and a street dance starting at 7:30 to finish it off. Of course this will follow other events like the Blarney Stone Kissing contest at 4:30, and the parade itself lasts for and hour starting at 6:30. Get a good spot for viewing by making sure you arrive by 6:00 when the festivities kick off!

This year’s Grand Marshal will be none other than one John Corbett!

Grand Marshal of The World's Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade 2011

You know him from popular television shows such as Parenthood, Sex and the City and Northern Exposure. He will not only serve as Grand Marshal but also will provide the after-entertainment for the street dance by performing with his band!

The parade is held on Bridge Street in downtown Hot Springs. All 98ft of Bridge Street earned it the title of the World’s Shortest Street from Ripley’s Believe It Or Not in the 1940’s. Sounds like a great location for a parade, right?! Over 30,000 people seem to think so. They flock to the site each year to celebrate the holiday.

Why not join them this year? Come and have a relaxing stay in one of these luxurious rooms at our bed and breakfast. We will make sure you are well rested and geared up for wearing green!

Spring is coming to Hot Springs Arkansas!

February 7th, 2011 by Kristie Rosset

We’ve certainly had some chilly temperatures the last few weeks in Hot Springs. It’s been nice to cuddle up beside the fireplace– just ask our recent guests! But now that Phil has decided that Spring is closer than we knew, it is time to start thinking about Springtime. The gardens at Lookout Point will be in bloom before you know it, with splashes of vivid colors all around. We can’t wait for all those early Spring bulbs! It’s just so exciting. Our friends over at Garvan Woodland Gardens have emerged  from a month long rest to prepare for “Daffodil Days” in which they will have over 230 different species of Daffodil.

Spring Daffodils

Narcissus

Just imagine! A 300+ acre botanical garden with over 200,000 of the  jonquil blooming bright and cheery in yellows and oranges. The daffodils will take center stage at Garvan Gardens from February 21st to March 20. Come stay with us at our Hot Springs bed & breakfast and we will make sure to give you a delightfuly splendid retreat!
