Check out American Idol tonight to see Stephanie Daulong auditioning in Dallas. How is Stephanie connected to Lookout Point, you ask? She’s the daughter of the hardest working man in Hot Springs: our gardener and friend, Pat Daulong. Stephanie’s beautiful voice should take her a long way in the AI competition.
Although we’ve never heard Pat sing in public, he is an accomplished artist in his own right. Besides his talent in the gardens, he’s also an impressionistic painter.
Best of luck, Stephanie! We’ll cheer you on to Hollywood.

Photo selected for the Southern Living article
On Thursday we received a call from a guest, congratulating Lookout Point for selection in Southern Living Magazine’s “Best of the South”. What a delightful phone call to receive!
The January, 2010 edition of Southern Living includes articles featuring the “Best of” from many states. Southern Living named the Best Attraction in Arkansas–Hot Springs National Park. And the place to stay: Lookout Point! Also included is McClard’s Bar-B-Q for lunch (yummy) and relaxing at the Quapaw Baths & Spas, with dinner at Rolando’s Nuevo Latino Restaurant.
We’re truly honored and humbled to be recognized by such a great magazine. Check it out–get a copy of the new Southern Living.

Our delightful and beloved town, Hot Springs, Arkansas was named one of the TOP FIVE travel destinations in the United States in 2010 by Trip Advisor! According to Trip Advisor, the top consumer generated travel review site in the world, Hot Springs ranked #3 in their top travel destination for 2010, just behind Seward, Alaska and Hyannis, Massachusetts. Completing the list of the Top Five travel destinations are Chinle, Arizona and Waimea, Hawaii.
Although we’re obviously partial, we think Hot Springs is one of the most beautiful and friendly places on the earth. At the inn, waking up to the calming lake views and the low lying Ouachitas Mountains, hearing the birds sing, and smelling the freshly ground coffee brewing starts the day perfectly. Yes, we’re partial. And we are so grateful to live in this fantastic town! It’s a pleasure to see Trip Advisor recognize this jewel of a city.

The Saint Louis Dispatch featured an article about Lookout Point in their publication last week. The author of the article, Jim Winnerman, stayed at Lookout Point to research for his article. The article gives a wonderful overview of the inn, our rooms, and different amenities we offer. We are very delighted to have this type of recognition in this publication.
We look forward to future publications that highlight what Lookout Point has to offer. Thank you Jim for such a wonderful piece. To book a room or for more information about the inn call Kristie at 501-525-6155, or visit our website!

Come visit Hot Springs for the fourteenth season of the Hot Springs Music Festival. This festival starts on May 31st and continues to June 13th. The festival “pairs world-class mentor musicians from major orchestras, chamber ensembles and conservatory faculties with especially talented pre-professional apprentices.” The festival takes place anywhere and everywhere throughout Hot Springs. From the Dallas Morning News, April 17, 2009: 18 Romantic Getaways in Texas and Neighboring States. Special Contributor Judy Wiley writes “Exotic honeymoon choices looked good about a year ago. And then, as if brides-to-be didn’t have enough to worry about, the economic crisis slammed into their wedding budgets.” Cutting back on the dress, the wedding site, and the rings isn’t likely to happen. So Wiley suggests great honeymoon destinations in Texas and the surrounding states.
Lookout Point Lakeside Inn is featured from Arkansas, and we’re honored! Called a hot spot, and “mighty pretty”, Lookout Point offers several honeymoon packages and wedding packages. Our rooms fill up quickly in the summertime, so if you’re seeking the perfect romantic and private honeymoon site, call the inn (501-525-6155) soon.

- Visiting the PAII trade show, Atlanta
Ray & I are attending a terrific innkeepers conference–the annual meeting of the best minds in the innkeeping industry at the Professional Association of Innkeepers International Conference, held this year in Atlanta. Oh my gosh, my head is spinning with the terrific, cutting edge ideas that I’ve learned, particulary in the technology field. Hmmm…. link the blog with my Facebook page and Twitter, plus upload area videos on 40plus sites. When I entered this beloved profession of innkeeping, I had NO CONCEPT of the need to become techno savvy! Yet I’m learning, and will continue to learn. While still seeking to serve great breakfasts and the finest in care and hospitality to our wonderful guests.
A very fun aspect of the PAII conference is the trade show. Peter Deneen (0ur potter), featured in the photo, has created some great new colors of mugs that we ordered. What other trade show can you tweak your online presence, order vacuum cleaners, taste waffles, and touch wonderful high thread count sheets? Of course, when we attend these exciting conferences, we return to Lookout Point Lakeside Inn with about 50 action plans to implement. We learn so much from fellow innkeepers. Yet we also learn lots of tips and ideas from our guests. If you have creative ideas for your favorite

innkeepers, we’d love to see your comments.
We look forward to our return to the inn on Saturday, and especially give thanks to our wonderful staff (especially Tricia, Warren, & Susan) for taking great care of the inn and guests in our absence.
Kristie
