Celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr in Hot Springs

January 11th, 2017 by Ray Rosset

Once again, we celebrate the birthday of one of our country’s great leaders, with the holiday on January 16. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. worked tirelessly in his short life for the equality of all people, and he endeavored to complete his mission nonviolently. Martin Luther King Jr

I believe if Dr. King were still with us, he’d encourage us all to have hope, to work for peace and to pray diligently for our new president and our American leaders in government. One of my favorite quotes by Dr. King, which seems appropriate this year, is, “An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.”

I hope you will join me in taking time for reflection on MLK Day. Reflect on the amazing life of this outstanding man who contributed so much to our country, then begin to apply some of his ideals for peace and love in our lives.

In Hot Springs, we celebrate MLK Day with a Prayer Breakfast sponsored by our local NAACP 8 a.m. Jan. 14 at the Hot Springs Convention Center. For more information, contact Elmer Beard at 501.624.6866. We’d love to have our out-of-town visitors join us at the breakfast.

We’d also like to invite you to stay with us at Lookout Point Inn. Our Inn celebrates the lives and dignity of all people and believes that whenever we work together in this great nation, we can achieve astounding successes. If you’d like to stay at our inn overlooking Lake Hamilton, please make reservations online or give us a call at 501.525.6155 and we’ll help you with travel plans.Martin Luther King Jr. Marching

Found: Four-Legged Family Member!

Welcome, Otto!

Paws in Prison

Sweet Otto

The newest addition to our family is a gentle guy with the sweetest disposition. Otto appears to be a one year old black lab/boxer mix, and he is recent stellar graduate of the Paws in Prison program. After being rescued from a kill shelter by CARE (Central Arkansas Rescue Effort), and placed in the prison program. This amazing program is such a win-win. The selected prisoners are taught by a professional dog trainer, and the dog is placed with the prisoner 24/7 to be trained. Otto comes to us house trained (we didn’t have the time nor energy to train a pup), knows many of the AKC commands, doesn’t pull on a leash, and we just love him! Most days Otto spends his time at Lookout Point Inn, tucked away in a back office. But if you need a dog fix while you’re here, you are welcome to take Otto for a walk! He would love it, and probably will share a slobbery kiss.

Earlier this year, our dog Nikki adopt a dog(a yellow lab mix) was diagnosed with lymphoma. While she lived several more happy months, she passed away at the beginning of summer.

We are grateful to our extremely thoughtful and kind staff for placing a tribute to Nikki in the garden. She’s facing the waterfalls, appropriate since she loved to romp in the water. Thank you so much to our very special team at Lookout Point!

If you are seeking Hot Springs, AR dog friendly lodging, you’ll love it here. Four guest rooms are available to folks traveling with their four-legged friends. We would love to welcome you!
