Guest Boat Tour of Lake Hamilton

May 21st, 2009 by Ray Rosset

Captain Ray & guests

Captain Ray & guests

What a glorious day for a boat ride on Lake Hamilton.  Sunny, gentle breezes, blue sky, and great people.  Steve & Shelley, enjoying their second stay at Lookout Point Lakeside Inn, decided to go for a ride with “Captain” Ray.    Taking guests on boat tours, sharing stories about the lake’s history, pointing out the amazing mansions and their stories, is one of Ray’s favorite innkeeping tasks.

If only I could dock the boat, I’d share this hard duty with Ray.  🙂  What a great place to live and work!

Hot Springs Music Festival, "Sound & Fury"

May 13th, 2009 by Ray Rosset

Come visit Hot Springs for the fourteenth season of the Hot Springs Music Festival.  This festival starts on May 31st and continues to June 13th.  The music festival combines the talent of over 250 international musicians.  The festival “pairs world-class mentor musicians from major orchestras, chamber ensembles and conservatory faculties with especially talented pre-professional apprentices.”  The festival takes place anywhere and everywhere throughout  Hot Springs.   Venues  include churches, historic buildings, hotel ballrooms, art galleries, and many open-air spaces.  Last year over 20,000 people attended the festival and about another 6.4 million listened to the festival broadcast on the radio.  In February 2001, an hour long Public Broadcast Service documentary, focusing on this festival, debuted.  This documentary, “The Sound of Dreams,” continues to be broadcast nationwide.  For more information about this festival and a list of events check out the Hot Springs Music Festival website.

Lookout Point is a proud sponsor of this event, and we encourage everyone to go to this one-of-a-kind music festival.  To book a room at Lookout Point and experience this festival call us at 501-525-6155 or check out our website!

Rainy Weather at Lookout Point

May 3rd, 2009 by Ray Rosset

Rain rain go away.  Come back another day.  Even though the rain  was greatly needed to drown out the pollen in the air, it makes for icky days outside.  Even with all the rain, the spirit of our guests is not soggy.  Just this morning we had a couple interested in hiking in the rain.  We suggested they take a trip to Lake Catherine and hike to the beautiful waterfall.  Since we have had so much rain the past few days, the waterfall should be flowing and make for a great place to hike to.  Speaking of hiking, mentioned in an earlier Lookout Point blog, we introduced our newest package, the “waterfalls and picnic package.”  This package is a very adventerous one that leads to many of the great waterfalls in Arkansas.  Even though this package is intended for the sunny days of the season, it goes to show that even rainy days are great for waterfall exploring as well.  Call the inn (501-525-6155) to reserve your Waterfalls & Picnic Package!

A post-wedding kiss

A post-wedding kiss

Jessica & Seth exchanged vows under the shelter of the porch last Saturday with loving parents in attendance. Following the wedding ceremony and cutting of the cake, the rain ceased. The weather break provided a great opportunity for photos in the gardens. Check out the Jessica & Seth’s umbrella photo on our weddings page photo gallery.  I know that I keep repeating myself, but Lookout Point welcomes the NICEST people in whole world.  Jessica & Seth are two great folks, and we wish them great happiness.

Inaugural "Spot of Tea" on Thursday in Hot Springs

March 26th, 2009 by Ray Rosset

Inaugural Tea on Thursday at Lookout PointLookout Point Lakeside Inn hosted the first “Spot of Tea on Thursday” today!   Attendees enjoyed the teas, freshly baked butterscotch scones, petite fours, curried chicken tea sandwiches, and cucumber finger sandwiches.  In addition, a tour of the inn and gardens provided an overview of the inn.  Most importantly, these friends savored time and conversation with each other in a soothing environment.

Picture here are Rita, Elveda, and Darla, along with innkeepers Kristie & Tricia, while Sharon snapped the photo.  These friends gathered from various Arkansas towns to shop Hot Springs and sip tea at Lookout Point.   Thanks for helping to make the fist “Spot of Tea on Thursday” a successful and fun endeavor!

Xiaoo & Monica in Hot Springs, Arkansas

It was a joy to welcome Xiaoo & Monica to Lookout Point. Originally from China, Xiaoo is attending law school in the states, and they were able to get away to the inn during spring break. Meeting great people from all over the world is one the true joys of innkeeping! We hope they will come back soon, and wish them all the best.

At breakfast, other guests dining at a nearby table shared stories of their experiences living and visiting in China. The other guests were driving across the entire U.S.! Now they’re hooked on staying at inns, and already reserved their next stop at another Select Registry bed & breakfast inn.

Every day I am filled with gratitude for the good fortune of doing what I love–innkeeping. And I get to live this “work” with my husband of 34 years, Ray. Life is good.
