A beautiful day for a wedding, with gentle breezes blowing across the lake to the inn gardens. Kevin & Monica exchanged vows along the shores of Lake Hamilton. What a lovely, tender and kind couple! We offer our very best wishes for a strong and successful marriage.

Every wedding is special at the inn, because each bride and gr0om are unique and delightful, full of hopes and dreams. We consider it a privilege to play a small role in one of the most cherished days life. Thanks for letting us share in this moment.

Hot Springs Music Festival Conductor Welcomed

Last week Lookout Point Lakeside Inn experienced the joy of welcoming the talented guest conductor Pierre Simard, of Montreal Canada. Joined by his enthusiastic wife, Nadya (a professional sopranist), the couple made fast friends with every person they met at the inn.

Conducting the Festival Symphony Orchestra, Simard’s spirited gifts coaxed the very best of these talented musicians from around the world. The opening overture, Wagner’s Tannhauser, left the crowd in holy awe, resulting in a standing ovation. Well done, maestro!

He’s conducting a Valentine’s concert, with Nadya singing, on February 19 on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Who wants to go? We do!

Lake Hamilton Wedding, Hot Springs

Beautiful couple

Last week, the rains stopped in time for a garden wedding along the shores of Lake Hamilton in Hot Springs. Surrounded by immediate family and friends, Terry & Cassie exchanged vows and rings.

This sweet, fun couple were perfectly relaxed and calm for the wedding. The high heels were kicked aside right after the ceremony, opting for barefoot comfort. Congratulations to Cassie & Terry!

Intimate Wedding on Lake Hamilton

At Lookout Point, we LOVE weddings, especially small intimate weddings. And especially when the couple is as kind & fun as Samantha & Mark. They exchanged vows today by the lake, with immediate family present. Congratulations!

Marrying at Lookout Point is becoming a trend for the Miller family. Three years ago sister Amy married Cody at Lookout Point, and today they returned to attend this wedding with their precious 2 year old son. What a joy to see them again!

Staying Fit at Lookout Point: A New Partnership

Meeting the needs of our guests is the top priority of Lookout Point. More and more travelers seek to stay fit while enjoying a vacation, so we’ve partnered with the nearby Hot Springs Health & Fitness. With the negotiated discounted rate, our guests will save some money, too.

With a certificate from the inn, our guests may participate in day long activities at the fitness center, from yoga and zumba classes to the wide array of exercise equipment and weights. An added bonus are the two outdoor pools (one for kiddos and a larger pool, including lap lanes).

Of course, you’re welcome to swim in the lake. Beach towels provided. Or nap in the hammock.

Bird Watching Paradise at Lookout Point

Yesterday we welcomed an ornithologist to Lookout Point. Within an hour of his arrival at the inn, David spotted :

Many of the birds are now nesting on the property, including the mallards. Watching the birds helps me to not take life too seriously. Somehow, I feel lighter. Thank you, David, for identifying some of our feathered friends.

Charming Elopement on Lake Hamilton

On a gorgeous spring day, Shannon & Brian exchanged vows in the gardens of Lookout Point, at the water’s edge of Lake Hamilton. During the wedding ceremony, quiet Brian (whom we learned has a dry and quick wit) cracked all of us up with a unique photographer request–to get a picture of his handsome new size 15 shoes.

It was such a privilege to officate at their wedding, and to share in their absolute joy. Congratulations to a wonderful couple, Shannon & Brian!

Lakeside Garden Wedding on Lake Hamilton

On March 29, 2010 Keith and Marla exchanged vows on the meditation labyrinth at Lookout Point Lakeside Inn. With calm Lake Hamilton and the Ouachita Mountains as a backdrop, this happy couple began their married life. It was a joy to officiate at their wedding!

Best wishes to Marla and Keith–two of the kindest and happiest people. Thanks for gracing Lookout Point with your presence.

Book Signing at Lookout Point Lakeside Inn

What an honor to host our friend, the Rev. Dr. Bill McElvaney for a book signing at Lookout Point on January 18! His 8th book, Becoming a Justice Seeking Congregation, is an invitation and challenge to wrestle with the Church’s God-given justice vocation.

Dr. McElvaney is a long time peace and justice advocate in both the local church and academy. He served for years as a pastor of United Methodist congregations, president of St. Paul School of Theology, and professor of preaching and worship at Perkins School of Theology, SMU, Dallas. In addition, he was one of my favorite professors when I was a ministry student years ago!

Red Hat Luncheon at Lookout Point

Wafting through the inn today were the peals of laughter, carols sung in three part harmony, and the delicious scent of maple praline bread pudding baking.

These wonderful women, The Babes of Wine & Roses, celebrated time together with a luncheon at Lookout Point. The organizer, Kit, commented in an e-mail to Lookout Point:

Dear Kristie & Ray, On behalf of The Babes of Wine and Roses, many thanks for a terrific luncheon today. We all agreed that you have a charming Inn and it was so much fun to take your tour. Our luncheon was a great success due to your gracious hospitality. Thank you for making this one terrific Christmas party for our group. We will definitely be letting our neighbors know what a gem you have there and also other Red Hat groups in The Village. Thanks again.
