How to Celebrate Mother’s Day

Each year for Mother’s Day, my siblings and I made the entire day a celebration: from breakfast in bed to a cup of peppermint tea before she went to sleep. Usually, we got her a gift and went fishing, mostly so she could relax by the lake. This year, you could pamper the strong ladies in your life in a similar way. There are several options Lookout Point can give you to consider this May.

  1. Lookout Point Cooking SchoolLearn new kitchen skills for your breakfast-in-bed plans by attending the Lookout Point Cooking School installment dedicated to Breakfast In Bed: An Art Form on May 9. Use quality ingredients to create a fresh, nutritious meal and a discerning eye to create a beautiful food presentation. As they say, pretty food tastes better! There is limited space for the class, so be sure to sign up soon.
  2. Bring your loved one to our Hot Springs Bed & Breakfast for a truly pampering getaway! Our guest rooms each have a view of Lake Hamilton, luxurious linens on comfortable beds, and a scrumptious breakfast each morning. You can take a walk in the garden, meditate on the labyrinth, or lounge in the sunroom and play a board game. Make the day all about relaxing, and all about her!   3. Give your beloved a gift certificate for a stay or an installment of the Cooking School ($50 per person, or $40 per person with a stay at the Inn). There will be several more classes this year, from Puff Pastry Magic on July 23, Cheesecake Heaven on Sept. 13, Soups—from Breakfast to Supper on Nov. 14, to Holiday Desserts on Dec. 6. Lookout Point Cooking School: Eggstreme Eggs, March 29

Tiffany and I had so much fun leading the Chocolate Covered Cooking Class before Valentine’s Day that we have already scheduled the next class for Saturday, March 29 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. on Eggstreme Eggs. This time we’ll have recipes and tips on making delicious protein-packed egg recipes just in time to create new dishes for your Easter brunch. Guests rave about our breakfasts, so here’s your chance to learn how we make the magic!


The Cooking School includes hands-on learning techniques starting with the basics of poaching and boiling eggs; preparing the recipes together as a class; sharing cooking tips, the best kitchen tools to use and information about ingredients. We promise you’ll have fun and take home new skills.

The Eggstreme Egg class also features two of the Inn’s breakfast egg dishes, including an omelette roulade with hollandaise sauce and a frittata. We’ll also bake meringue cookies with the egg whites left from hollandaise sauce. Yum!

The cost for the class is $50 person, or $40 if you stay for the weekend at the Inn. In addition to the class, you’ll be treated to the lunch that prepare, samples to take with you and a gift bag with Lookout Point goodies.

We’d love to have you come for the Cooking School and extend your stay through the weekend. After class, there will be plenty to keep you entertained in Hot Springs with the Oaklawn races and spring flowers, including the Tulip Extravaganza blooming at Garvan Gardens.
