Just a few months ago, I was sitting on my deck at home with Ray drinking coffee when we spotted a bald eagle. I can’t begin to tell you how exhilarating it was to see our country’s national symbol – the bald eagle – perched in a tree in our back yard.
Bald eagles are a unique combination of beauty and efficient design that pass over most of Arkansas during the winter months and are easily spotted in the Hot Springs area at Lake Catherine and Lake Ouachita State Parks.
Lake Catherine Park hosts a Bald Eagle Tour Weekend which includes boat tours and hikes in search of the soaring eagles as they pass over the area. Events are scheduled for the weekend of Jan. 17-19. A more detailed schedule will be available near the event weekend at email@example.com or by calling the Lake Ouachita Eagle Tours. There are eagle watch cruises out of the Lake Ouachita State Park using a covered barge that cruises the shoreline of the lake watching for eagles. The Eagle Tours last about 1½ hours and are offered January 18-19. Contact the visitor center at the Park at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling 501.767.9366 for a schedule and more information.
We look forward to the Bald Eagle Tours in January and love to hear stories in the evenings from our guests of the adventures in searching for the magnificent bald eagles. Please make plans to stay with us at our Hot Springs bed and breakfast when you make reservations for the Bald Eagle Tours at Lake Catherine or Lake Ouachita. The Inn is a warm wonderful place to return to after a day of eagle watching. We’ve got homemade hot chocolate, teas and our special blend of coffee so that you can warm up quickly by the roaring fireplace or in your luxurious room.
The Inn is close to the State Parks and would complete a wonderful Arkansas retreat weekend. Make reservations online or call us at (501) 525.6155 for more information. Don’t forget your binoculars and cameras!
